    Shell gorget (or preform)

    Here is a big piece of shell from Michigan. I'm not quite sure what this would have been, it looks like a Glacial Kame Sandal Sole gorget preform but the material is wrong... I believe 100% of all the known and authentic Sandal Soles are made from Whelk shell, while this is Conch. Not drilled and not polished, but covered with enough patina to scare a fake gorget to death.

    It looks like it was buried next to some copper for a while.
