Re: Paleo Tools
Steve/Dorkfish- I will check out your post, and I am sure to be in awe...... Wish I could say I found my examples, but I didn't. I was about two steps away from the one striped Carter Cave example. My buddy(lostlake88) found it when we were near Portsmouth. I traded him out of it(sucker)....
Thirty7- The drill/reamer/whatsit. I believe it is a late paleo form related to lance types. I cannot fathom how or why it was resharpened into the crescent shape, but it was. If you feel the piece, it is heavily ground up to the area where the resharpening starts. Whatever it was used for, several very important Ohio artifact collectors thought it was important. It bears Doctor Meuser's writing(very rare on flint), followed by Dr. Stan Copeland personal collection blue ink, and was last sold at Max Shipley's auctions in 1988. I always figured if those guys liked it, I should too. It is one of my favorite flint pieces I have owned. I'll try to get some more pics up of it that show where the grinding is. Once you see that illustrated, the connection with late paleo lance makers is much more apparent.
Thanks to all for the comments. That little group represents close to 15 years of buying/selling/trading these unique tool forms.
Regards,
Jon Dickinson.

Re: Paleo Tools
what a set of tools. The Paleo equivalent to modern day Craftsman.
At least those guys didn't have to be concerned if it was standard or metric!
Love all the collections posted
