    ?????Why no wood???

Is it just the fact that wood rots or is even consumed by insects and rodents. There is some very dense and hard wood in this great country. So have the early locals ever used hard woods for their arrow or dart points?
They are sure in use elsewhere, and I mean are, as in currently.
Here is a couple for obvious different uses....

Here is how the hardwood tip was attached to the lighter weight (different wood) shaft

check out the intricate wrappings on this fish point, at least that's what I would use it for.

Just curious. Let's hear it guys. Will post more of these tomorrow if interested.

Hay Bravowhiskey , I've seen a few , at one of the mission museums
I've also have read about here in San Diego county, where it was believed that only 1 in 1o arrows had a stone point , the rest of 'em where cane arrows with a 8-12 in. hardwood fore-shaft ,.. I do not remember how they came up with these numbers ?? .... but Blindpig

Love to see more..... Everything here rots in the ground unless its a rock shelter find or charcoal. Interesting to me to see these primitive weapons intact. Cool stuff is is from Africa ?
