My First Dry Creek Hunt Pictures Including Drilled Hole.

I had never been hunting in a dried up creek bed before yesterday. Now I understand so much more after seeing projectiles sticking out of the erosion. It is like fish in a barrel.

I did find a "first" for me. I have two pieces of limestone that have a hole cleanly cut through the rock. One is due to erosion and the other I am unsure of its story. The one yesterday has a perfect hole in a heavy rock that shows no other erosion and you can see some work done above the drill hole.

What were these made for exactly? Also how did they drill them so precisely? Oh well, there are plenty of other awesome rocks that I found. Tomorrow I am taking a forum member to my normal spot. We should have some pretty sweet pictures early next week!!

Hey, can't wait for tomorrow's hunt. Anyway, some of the chert has been worked quite a bit, so I am thinking they were making tools or taking flakes off of a few of those peices to make tools or projectile points. It's hard to say about the holes in the limestone, they could have been drilled on. Let's see what opinions everyone has. I am sure we will find some cool stuff tomorrow. You have found some broken or modified projectile points there, and some tools, so I think we will come away with some cool stuff. See ya at 11:00.

Oh, Jim Google Texas Beyond History, and go to Artifacts from the Kincaid Shelter. You will see on the description of the site some pictures and descriptions of the type of artifacts found there. One is a limestone pendant that has a drill hole through it. Anyway, I don't remember how big that peice is of yours but the one that was found at Kincaid was small and wore on a necklace perhaps.

If Dorkfish or anyone for that matter explain how you know it is erosion versus a drilled hole? I have never found such a cleanly cut hole before so I have no basis for comparison. The only holes I have in rocks are all very obviously from erosion. That is why this seemed much more clean and it is the only mark on the whole rock.
