question on artifact hunting laws in tx

Hey everyone, I have not posted in a while because I have been working quite a bit out of town in Illinois. It's cold, to say the least, in that part of the Country right now. When I left it was in the teens, cold!! Anyway, I have been wondering, does anyone have anything to contribute about the rules on artifact hunting along Lake Travis I have a friend that has property along the shoreline. This is where I have had permission to hunt, b/c it is his private property. That's ok right?? Just as long as I am not on public land I should be ok I've heard. Let me know what ya'll think, any info is much appreciated. Hope ya'll have had some good hunts. I need to find some time to get out again...

If you are on private land you can do as you please . Don't let anyone tell you otherwise !!!!!

I would agree with Manchu, but you are around Austin, they are a bit crazier than the rest of Tx.

Private land on a waterway is ok as long as you are not in the flood zone controlled by the government (waters edge on a navigable waterway). That is a Federal law. Read up on the laws. Big thing you will get from this is do not dig on a ricer or lake bank. They do not enforce the surface hunting to bad but just be ready to chunck what you have,,grrrr
    Hope this helps.
