These are three square knives from my collection. First piece is from Kentucky, mostly uniface on one side with a little bit of flaking. The second one is a small hornstone example from Indiana. The last one is a West Virginia piece, it's super thin.
Freaky ! I just got one almost exactly like your last one from the upper Hudson Valley, except the principal removals run lengthwise. Grey Onondaga. I'd picture it but the camera or the computer's boogered up. Single pictures turn into a square of 16 little copies of it instead of one whenever I load them into the computer. Some wrong button got pushed or something.
Very Nice Thirty7. I am afraid I am goofing up by posting these but they are all I could dig out at the moment. I am not sure they are considered square knifes.. I have a bunch of old racks i need to get out. These are kinda square and seem to be snapped broke at one end. Some river finds amd some from multi componet sites. They may not fit the bill. I have blades that are kinda square as well??
Tell me what ya think. How are the snow men coming??

VERY pretty stuff !!!
sounds like something on the software, try and undo grouping if it's an option. Maybe reinstall or go back to default settings. Thanks uni, look foward to seeing it if you get a chance.

Some of those sure look like square knives to me(3rd one especially ), nice pieces. I've got a couple with snapped or broken ends like those that fit the hand like a finger platform. Couple of those look like early flaking to me. No goofs at all man, thanks for the addition. So sick and freaking tired of snow, we got 8 more inches with this storm and lots more coming this weekend. They keep hitting on the weekend...wtf?
Hang in there. We still have snow on the ground here.Maybe more coming. My rivers are over their banks and the mountains are shootig out water from the tops with so much ground presure in the aquaducts and caves. Its times like these we have massive blow outs and Blue Holes are formed. The largest CW show they say ever held will be in Dalton Ga this weekend so may go look at that stuff. Shoot man we can see that stuff here kinda like going to a artifact show. I may just go shwing : ) a detector till this weather breaks !!
Here are a couple of ebay finds I had pictures of on my photobucket account, I have a couple of personal finds at home somewhere...
The first piece was like $20 on eBay, from Florida or Georgia. The material looks like a piece of candy.
This piece is a square knife made from a failed clovis biface preform made from flint ridge, the fluting nipple is still visible on the bottom. There is a strait edge along the top that has been ground down smooth in ancient time.
Interesting artifacts Joshua, that orange material (coral?) is really pretty stuff, good buy.
Here's a few more, these are all personal finds from WV. The piece on the right of the frame is more than likely a uniface knife, but the shape fits. The broken one would have been killer, came off a site where alot of late paleo stuff has been picked up. Thanks for the comments Silver Eagle and Joshua.
This is the only square knife i have ever found. It is from Limestone Co. AL. There is a very thin and sharp graver or possibly hook knife [ just the very tip missing ] on the other end.Do these knives have an association with a time period ? This was a surface find but have found some very old stuff in same area.
