    Danglers

I was looking thru more boxes and found these again. Funny story, I have been missing the plummet for about 4 years. I thought someone stole it. I'm gettin senile.

Hey Lars. Fingas are all functional today.
I've always heard em called Plummets or Plum bobs.
They were used then just as carpenters use plum bobs today.

    Re: Danglers

    hey thanks man
I am hoping to find one some time
I would think if they used them as plum bobs like a carpenter there should be some around here
reason I say this is because the mandan and arikara built there homes out of logs and were called earth lodges
the women built the houses while the young men hunted and the old men sat around and ate and smoked tobacco

    Re: Danglers

I think I got really lucky when I found it.
I've seen many amazing collections from around here and nobody else has one.
The only other one I've seen is in the Cahokia museum. It had a pointed bottom.

I have a soap stone one but think mine may have been a sinker. That is very nice. Do you think the shell was used the same way?

    Re: Danglers

I just figured the shell was a pendant or something.
I guess it coulda been used as a bob.
