    Knife?

Found this today in a pile of dirt that was removed from our driveway. I think it may be a knife, or a tool of some kind. The material is our local flint, or brown jasper. Thanks for looking and any comments.

I would have to say that looks like a worked piece and is an Indian artifact.
I would easily place that in my collection as such.

    Re: Knife?

Thanks for the comments. I still have all the dirt, about a dumptruck full. I used a hand rake to search about two buckets of the dirt and found this piece. Still alot more dirt to look through.

Gotta love em when they are dumped at your front door. Good spot hope you find some more. Nice patina on that piece. Keep us updated.

    Re: Knife?

You might want to make a chicken wire, frame sifter, and sift through all the dirt. I would recommend no more than a 1/8 inch mesh. No telling what you might find.

I would not allow that dirt to leave my property until I had run it through a sifter.

    Re: Knife?

Thanks again for the responces. The first point found here was literally a few feet from the front door after they back filled the foundation. I have thought about sifting the dirt from the driveway, and probably will some day. Theres alot more dirt than that pile as well, and none of it is leaving the property.
