Nice pictures larson. We find the scapulas on our sites, but I have yet to see one made into a shovel or digger and I check everyone I see.

Yeah, they farmed but they used Shell Hoes and Stone Hoes to do their digging. I talked to an archy who was doing a dig at one of our Ft Ancient sites and he said that he had never seen one come from the southern Ohio area on our village sites. He said he found them up north on sites of the same age though.

Here's a couple pictures of the Hoes they used.

Looks like lots of debris in your field. You should run a metal detector over it, you might be surprised what you find.

Re: 3 dirt pictures more photos added from SRV & larson

I tried my metal detector and this is what i found the last time i did it
    gas cap from the tractor
    about 5 fence post staples
    a few 16d nails
    a couple plow bolts
a U-joint from a power takeoff from an old tractor or baler or mower
spent a lot of time but nothing good
I was hoping to find a copper point or copper bangle
    but no luck
I still am going to try it again and hope for better luck
    thanks, lars
