UPDATE to... I think we are on to something

Roughly our total time at this farm was under 4 hours... and guestimating the size of the area we worked above ground laying on top is just under an acre of land. we did walk a plowed part but did not produce anything.
All these were laying on the top surface and laying on top of piles of dirt.
Sorry for the endless pictures... we are pretty excited! If any of you see anything... please point it out, as we are rank newbies as you know.

    Indeed you are.

In pictures 2-4, the speckled biface is a broken Decatur Point (knife), dating from somewhere around 9,000 years ago by current reckoning.

Overall, you seem to have an knapping site there -- mostly waste flakes and the occasional discarded broken tool (like the knife and the broken biface blade).

    Nice !

Thank you very much uniface for your notes... To us, this is an amazing find!!!! AND... 9,000 years is fantastic... especially for us beginners. Now to figure out how to look at this site... and how to search and research it and find more about it... Now for digging into the books and digging into the internet for what to do with this site.
    Thanks again...

You are definitely on a good site. With that amount of flint, and a lot of it looks to be rough blanks or cores that have been flaked on, plus the two tips which look like they came off of larger points and the Decatur Fracture Base it's a good bet you have a nice early Archaic site. You are on the right track and I have a feeling we're going to see a killer on here before long that you've pulled from that field.

Its cool you are picking everything up in the beginning. You can learn even from the flakes and broken cores. The site has much more for sure. Find 7 or 8 places just like that and you will be starting a good collecton.
    Good luck.

Thank you... hahahahaha yes we are picking up everything. LOL As new as we are... every bit of it is important.
one reason we pick up everything was to show you guys what we have found... and... since we also metal detect and take everything out of the ground we find, trash or relic... so we don't keep finding the same thing... we did the same with the flakes and pieces... so our eyes won't keep finding them and maybe miss the better ones. I guess you can say we are cleaning up the site for future hunting.
    Ralph & Peggy too
