    Geofact or artifact?

This past weekend I went to my wife's grandmother's place that has 2 old homestead locations on it. Since it had rained quite a bit I was only able to drive to the creek area before I had to get out and walk over.

As I was traversing the creek (about mid shin high) I saw that some of the ground had sloughed off and a LOT of "stuff" was showing. Thinking I had hit the mother load I headed that direction with the White's figuring I would find some old relics (metal) at the very least since I had found others at this location in the past.

I found NOTHING with the metal detector and was leaving to head up the hill to the first old home site when I spotted this critter laying in the water.

Both of the large flat sides are smooth and the edges are not. It looks like one of the old grind stones that I have seen on here in the past, but it is REALLY small compared to most... The first pic has a new quarter in it for size comparison.

So, my question is this, is it a grind stone or a rock that the creek has polished over the years? I have found several flakes and points in this area in the past, but MOST were well away from the creek area.

Also, the creek is NOT always running. It's only wet when the rains are greater than 2" in a short period of time.

Hey, that looks exactly like something I found last month. Mine was identified as a Mano and it surely looks the same. Nice find!

I think ours could be twins almost Larson!

First of these critters I've found and wasn't sure if it was a mano or not. I think I'll pay a bit more attention to the creek next time I'm out there!

    Thanks all.

Dr - It looks like an artifact, probably a grinding implement to me.
