here are a couple weights that uncle martin found in the field about 15-20 years ago

I believe the first one is a Atlatl wieght.... a rare & awesome find....The other is super cool too..A net wieght?

Larson51, I can see the nice engraved tie slots. I've always had thoughts about the everyday utilitarian spear chucking weights as apposed to the prim and proper bannerstones that get all the attention. When ever I'm in a camp location and sifting I always find and hold onto weird and abnormal stuff that just doesn't go with the normal fire rock debris. I can't tell you how many tubular stones I've found that I always thought that of. I'm gonna relook at them tomorrow. I hadn't noticed any lines or abrasions for fastening like this though. Real nice. I believe the other is a bola weight. It has too much work to be a net stone. Thanks for showing. G

the round sandstone was for keeping a baited bone hook on the bottom to catch catfish, sheephead, sauger, etc
