    THIS STONE MORTAR WAS FOUND IN A PLOWED FIELD IN PITT COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA.

    I was digging and screening a couple of years ago, and I dug up a metate grinding stone reached down in the hole to take it out, and when I turned it over the mano was right underneath it. I guess that was the way it had been left when it was last used no telling how long ago.

    Very, very nice.

    I found one very similar along the banks of the Reedy River.
    South Carolina found pieces.
