WV Stemmed Points , I.D. ?
These are two WV pieces I'd appreciate some I.D. help with. The larger one looks Adena culture but the flaking looks earlier. The smaller stemmed piece has some earlier diagonal flaking and a bifurcated base. Any opinions or comments are appreciated.

Funny NatureGirl. I was going to say little bear creek on the 1st but looked at some of mine and the base seems wrong what about a Benton? Flaking is right. Not sure on the second?

The second one, I instantly though it was a drybrook fishtail. I can't find any pics though to make sure....

Th3rty7 - The 2nd point may be a Susquehana. It's not a dead renger for the type but it's close. Plus is very appropriate for the region found. The 1st point I'd have to go with Adena and a very high quality example at that. As you mention it's not a typical Adena. If it is not Adena I'd then go to a late Archaic generic stemmed point.
Your question on type is always an interesting one to me. I'd say that 50% of my points I have a good idea of what type they are. Another 30-40% I don't have a defined type but I have thoughts on time frame based on any number of factors. The remaining ~10% or so are unidentified.

I hadn't thought of a Susky broadpoint, that's a good suggestion Twitch thanks. The area found and clipped wings are a match. For some reason Pa. types are usually the last I think about when trying to id WV types. I'm right there with you on the percentages except I think my unidentified is more like ~20%. Appreciate it man.
