    ALERT, stolen points and cash

This was posted on another forum I am on and this is just sickening, any help would be appreciated
Well, one of our worst fears may have been realized.

Over the past couple of years, someone has worked overtime to gain the trust of Deep South collectors, and was granted that trust, only to leave several collectors "high and dry" in recent weeks.

Reportedly, this individual took a frame of Florida coral points (photos to follow asap) to sell to a supposed buyer in Tennessee. Sources say, this individual was also trusted with several thousand dollars in cash entrusted from more than one collector to procure another collection, supposedly in Virginia and Tennessee.

Over the past 4 weeks or so, this individual, the Florida coral points, and a substantial amount of cash have all "disappeared". No return phone calls or contact from the individual in several weeks.

It is VERY POSSIBLE that the points did not belong to this individual outright in the first place (and that someone had trusted him to sell them on consignment) , and the "investors" were told that these points were purchased with their money and that he was going to turn them for a profit in Tennessee.

From what can be gathered, the cash was needed to buy another collection, the points were going to be delivered to the waiting "buyer", so this person needed to take the cash and points on a road trip to facilitate the transaction(s).

If you see any of these points or suspect anything unusual that could be helpful to law enforcement, please contact Sheriff Jim Morris with the Decatur County Sheriffs office at 229-248-3044 or 229-400-8002. You can remain anonymous and I will be glad to assist in any information gathering.

Oh that is sickening. Those are beautiful points. I especially love the one on the bottom row, second from the left.

Sad to hear about... Can you share the bad guys name? That would make it easier for people to avoid him, and maybe limit is ability to sell the pieces.

as of now they arent putting a name up but apperantly it is a known name in our circle. I have to make a few calls. A friend had this type of situation happen this year where the guy said he would sell my buddies lower grade points for him, he didnt do it of course, something wasnt right with it.

I would never like to know that I would have to sell points away. If I did sell points, it would be from me not any random person. I understand that times are tough right now. So tough that I would not give thousands of dollars to anyone for transactions. HANG HIM !!!

Re: ALERT, stolen points and cash

these were collector/dealers that have these points. Most of the time when a everyday digger finds something like these its sold and when a dealer has a frame full of smoking eye candy its common to thin them out and invest in other points. These werent sold beacause of hard times, they also shelled out $$$ to buy a collection after these points were to be sold.

The law is involved and no names have been mentioned as of yet. Dont know why ,I would yell it from the rooftops
