My first find today was a good one

I was metal detecting a new site today and found my first metal point. It is 2"s long and dates from the late 1700s-early 1800s. This is the only site that has produced any metal points and mine is only the second whole one found there. I did a happy dance on this one!

Man that is a nice find !! I have seen some nice copper from your area. That is as nice as they come. It almost looks civil war related because of it's shape and condition. Thanks for sharing that and good luck.

By the time of the Civil war the indians were long gone from this area. The story goes that Andrew Jackson and his troops camped here with the tribe in 1812. When he left to continue his fight with hostile indians he took most of the able bodied men with him.
Shortly after he left some Georgia troops mistook this village for a hostile one and killed 7 of its inhabitants. Maybe the 54 caliber round ball was from the Georgia troops. I know the minie ball is later but this site was occupied by Indians and whites for a long, long time.
