My first gem point
Well i dunno if it counts as a gem cause the material and cause the base is broken, but my first fully translucent piece. This is as close to a gem that will come from this area!!!!! ;p;. you can read through it! I think this piece came from up north of me, the only obsidian that i know is around here are small apache tears. Put a huge smile on my face out there

Re: My first gem point
Chong - Cool find. I never could find a raw piece of obsidian down there bigger than about a quarter, let along anything large enough to make a point out of. Translucent points are cool, base broken or not.

Re: My first gem point
Chong - I'll get some pictures and post before too long. I have no points whatsoever. I have pottery, some fossils and some other stuff that I'll post. I'm telling you man, you're my hero. I hunted my ass off down there for 5 years and found NOT A SINGLE POINT. With the quantity of points you find, let alone the quality, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Thank you Twitch, and ill be looking forward to seeing them! I remember you told me awhile back you didnt find any points, that sucks bad. At first i started off MD'ing then bottle huntin, then artifacts. I wish they had a nice museum for all the local stuff thats been found in the area, but nothin......... To see pieces found around here i have to view private collections only
