2-23-11 Couple nice brokes and a nice old knife...
Got out for some more creek walking and shed antler hunting again today....second hunt of the season. Todays creek is in the middle of a huge block of timber and is about a half mile from the one I hunted last week....it has been a good producer the last few years and was again today. First point I found is a nice pretty two tone pink with the tip broken off. About 20 yards away from there I found a nice pink scraper looking tool...maybe an end scraper? It looks wet in the pictures but it isn't....it is multi colored and very shiny in places. I bet whoever made it was proud of it. I also found another broken point...just the tip of this one but didn't bother with pics of it....it's a dark purple color. The last artificat I found was the white knife looking tool. Do you think the knife is older than the other two pictured? Also found two dead deer....here's a pic of one as well as a pic of the creek I hunted today.

Cool creek! Did you keep the skull? I hate it when I find them because I cannot just walk by them if they have decent antlers. My old girlfriend used to really flip when we found one driving or hiking and took the head.

I left it behind.....that's the first time I EVER found a deer rack in the woods and didn't take it home but I had a lot of walking ahead of me today....didn't want to cut my rock hunt short or lug it around with me. I can walk right to it anytime I want...might pick it up during turkey season if the squirrels don't eat it first.

That looks like a tough creek to hunt. I hunt a couple that are covered with limestone like yours and man are they hard to hunt. I actually learned to hunt for arrowheads in a creek like that one. Was a great way to train my eyes but wow, hard to hunt. Good job to find the points in there!

Oppps is that your fletching by that buck? haha just kidding. That knife is very nice and who knows could be a lot older. I do not know how you would tell as they made them in all time periods. Nice find Archer. Like the color on the stemmers.

Missouri is the same way....you can pick it up but you have to get a permit to keep it.

Actually you guys aren't crazy....I added my location after you asked. Thought I had it in there before but guess not.
Thanks for the comments.....artifact hunting is a late winter/early spring pasttime for me. I'm far from a serious collector and not very knowledgable, but I am blessed with a farm that was fairly heavily inhabited and I sure enjoy the thrill of finding something made used by man so long ago. I've been doing a lot of reading and I can sure see myself dedicating more time to this in years to come.
