3 Drilled Pieces And A ?
These are four pieces I found from the same field in southeast WV. The first is a cannel coal pendant. The second is the best bone bead I found there, drilled about half way in on one side, and roughly a quarter of the way on the other. The third piece a large stone bead or maybe a weight of some kind? The last piece is a puzzling one that I can't figure out or ID but imo shows signs of being manmade.
Any ideas or opinions on that last piece would be appreciated. HH

I don't have any ideas but it looks man made to me too. Very interesting. Nice finds....

That bone bead is very nice, is the last item broken off of something larger?

Do you think that last piece could be an earspool? Those are very nice finds, Th3rty7!

Appreciate the comments and opinions folks.
Naturegirl, my first impression after I found it was that it was a broken piece of pottery. It's some kind of hardstone with a heavy caliche patina. I think it's all there but that's just a guess.
Sandcreek, thank you for your opinion. I don't really know enough about earspools to say, I will do some research on them thanks.

The round rock lookin ball is actually iron, I can pull it around with a magnet.
Thanks Kris, appreciate your opinion and pics. That's a good idea about a pot or vessel lid that hadn't crossed my mind. Your example is really similar to the piece I found.

Re: 3 Drilled Pieces And A ?
Ryan, here's what I see on your pieces.
The first piece is actually a Cannel Coal Bead and not a Pendant. I have one that looks very similar. Mine is in the first picture up to the left with the Cannel Coal Pendants.
The second piece looks like a Shell Tube Bead to me. They made Bone Beads out of hollow Bird Bones so there was no need to drill them. That would have been a very nice Shell Bead if they had finished it and it's still a nice piece though. The second picture shows one very similar to yours in the center of the Bone Bead Bracelet.
Your last two pieces are more then likely natural. The stone with the hole could have been used as a Bead though if you found it on a site. They are sometime referred to as Pebble Pendants as well. The last piece is more than likely a Concretion formation. I have seen ones just like that and I think I have a few in my rock garden.

Re: 3 Drilled Pieces And A ?
Thanks SRV. A natural formation. Do they happen in underground creeks or springs ? I have seen all kinds of stones with odd or weird shapes now that I look at the ground continually when ever I'm outside. I look at some stones and say now how could that have been formed naturally ? If you've ever toured Carlsbad Caverns, I've been twice, there is no end to how natural stone occurs in the west underground. I'm going back to that spring this morning. Happy Hunting !
