    Heart breaking drill form

Found this one a few months ago and just about cried when I saw that it was broke. I've not been able to find any examples of this style on the internet and was hoping that someone might have a similar unbroken drill and would post some pics for comparison. I've seen some examples of "T" drills but none have the long "ears" if you will.

What is the proper term for the "ears"? Would this have been hafted and how?! I'm still looking for the missing piece, hope it's still in there!

    Re: Heart breaking drill form

I have only found one whole and four broken drills. The T-shaped ones like yours would most likely be made that way for hafting my guess. I would rather have a ear broke than the bit. I would say they were still using that one for something as I have seen some that were made with only one ear. Nice drill! Thanks for the pic.
