My latest finds, with a question about one of them.

These are my latest finds from the last few months. The red ones are from North Texas while the others are from Central Texas. We have been clearing off some land here and have found quite a few pieces along with a few points like the bigger one next to the penny.

One question though? On this particular point, the notches are not symmetrical. It seems that this point would be somewhat off balance. I've included a bigger photo. Any ideas?

It was likely used as a knife or cutting tool and not a projectile point. The resharpening caused its "unbalanced" appearance.

i agree with Ohio that is a knife blade now, it may have started as a projectile point and used same side all the time so only that side got sharpend by reflacking it, so every time it got resharpend it got smaller and more off balance as you called it. check out antler hafted knifes on the knapping forum that may show you why one side being used all the time better then i could explain... I appreciate the explanation guys. I never really even thought of it being used as a knife. But I also couldn't figure out why it would have been made off center.

Thats why I like this place, an answer is just a click away.

    Thanks again.
