Woods Hunting?

There's a hill where I metal detect that overlooks a river and a tributary. Last year I had a flint scraper come out of a hole I was digging. Today I had a flake come out of another hole. They are about 50 feet from each other. So that has me thinking about hunting for non-metal stuff in this area. There's gotta be some stuff up there if I just happened to stumble onto two things by accident. The area is wooded and pretty clean as far as under brush goes.

How would one go about hunting a wooded area? Rake and sifter?

I would dig several test pits if I didn`t have a drill...look for a layer below the topsoil with charcoal, flint chips, shells, pottery etc depending on the culture. Finding fire cracked stone and reddened earth from a fire pit is a good place to start, widen out from there. Could be a good spot.
