Lake Shore Find

I found this spear point on the sandy lake shore. I've been collecting for a while now but have never come accross anything resembling this type of point. It has a very strange shape not common with points from this area and appears to have ruff fluting on both sides of base. Material is a red posporous stone also not common to this area. I was looking at a arrowhead guide and the only point that looked similar was a pelican point...

Wow, That looks extremely old! Very nice find. I'm not familiar with that type of point, but it is a beaut!! HH

It definately looks paleo-archaic. Pelican points are normally wider on the front, with a concave base and better chipping. That point more resembles a Hell Gap point, though they are sometimes a little longer. It could be a preform of several paleo types.

Hey river rat,
Is the base ground, and how long is it, and where was it found? I used to have a point that had that same body shape and it was a stone square stem point.
