a few creek finds
havent posted in a while, although i still have been enjoying checking out ur finds from all over the country. thought i would share a couple artifacts found on my last few creek walks. the corner notch and the blade were found in two seperate creeks, they are both Hughes river flint which is very common in my area. the corner notch is very heavily beveled, it must have been a much larger piece at one time. the blade does not have any reworking on it, my friend suggested that it might be a hopewell blade or preform. The two smaller points were also found in two seperate creeks, the side notch is also hughes river material and is heavily beveled. The last few pics show a stone that was found about 100 yards from the corner notch in the top pic. maybe a plummet, not sure but it is interesting, had to pick it up. as always, would love to hear ur opinions. thanks

Re: a few creek finds
Very nice finds. I really love the blade. The last appears to be a plummet.

Hi Musky,
I recently found a point like your leaf blade piece in North-central PA, near the New York border. Mine is not of as nice material as yours, but otherwise they are similar. Both clearly are too well made and finished to be preforms. Whatever the type, these two leaf blade pieces strike me as finished points.

Re: a few creek finds
i would have to agree with u artorius, they do look to be completed blades. its funny that u called it a leaf blade, cause that is exactly what it looked like(a leaf) laying about a foot deep in the creek. i almost walked right past it, i had already picked up several leaves that day. i was actually shocked when i felt that it wasnt a leaf.
