Great looking finds whitetails. Some killer Points in those groups.

Did you actually find the one in the last picture? The reason I ask is that those types are 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999% fake. There has never been one found in a mound, grave, or in any association with a village site. You would think that as many as there are floating around that they would have been prized possessions and buried with the dead, but they aren't. Just like Flint Fish Hooks, Turtles, and Snakes. They are all fakes and have been around for as long as people have collected relics. I have a book from 1892 that shows these items and lists them as fakes back then.

maybe you dug up a previously faked and buried piece? the thing listed as an effigy sure looks interesting, but it is hard to doubt SRV and his experience.
If you really did dig this piece up, then well, heck maybe it's a some sort of hide skinner (imagine a handel hafted on one side) course it could be a ancient can opener.

    the tooth looks like bison.

Nice finds, looks like you are working a great site.

You might try to get a COA from one of the big authenticators, but a lot of collectors would still doubt the piece even with every certificate out there. An authenticator might not paper it just to avoid having his name next to a picture of a thunderbird effigy.

I have thousands of relics and have seen millions of relics over the years at shows and in other collections and I have never seen an authentic flint/chert thunderbird effigy like that. Not saying they CAN'T be out there, just that I have never seen or heard of one that I thought was authentic.

Can you post a picture of it next to some of other white points you've found at the same site? If there is a significant difference in patina someone might be playing a mean joke on you.

For what it's worth, there are authentic effigies from your area, but they don't look like that one.

I'm not going to debate whether that birdman or thunderbird effigy is authentic or not, but if you found it, it's probably authentic. There are numerous thunderbird and birdman effigies in the archaeological record. Most are made from shell, bone, or copper.

Here are a couple polished flint birdman effigies found in Illinois.
