    Indian artifact?

My father found this many years ago. If it is an artifact then what would it have been used for. Also how old might it be. Thanks for any info.

It looks to me like a discoidal if anything, similar to the one posted here a short time ago: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?topic=401629.0

Can you flip it over, take more pics and provide overall measurements?

It look's like it has a depression in the center, it could be some sort of grinding stone like a matate. Could you post a side angle photo that would show a better view of the depression ?

Is the edge rounded, is the other side concave like the side pictured? If so it is a discoidal like Terry said, discoidals were game stones.....

    Re: Indian artifact?

From what I can see in the picture it looks to be a Discoidal. But then again it could just be a Pitted Hammerstone. We need some more pictures from different angles and to see the other side.

    Thanks

It's 4" across and 1" thick. The back is concave but not as deep as the other side.
