Kinda Rare but Not All There

Here is a heartbreaker from a cornfeild find in central Vermont. These don't show up very often and when they do they are broke. These cornfields have been looked for years and I wouldn't be surprised if the other half was sitting inside a old cigar box in somebodys attic.

Still a great find...material might be the reason why it broke, looks to be a fine grained sand stone, most are made from banded slate which might be a tad stronger. Looks to be drilled by flint drill from one side, are there any evidence of smoothing on the drill marks, if not it may have broken during manufacturing? What is the hole size? Keep looking for other piece, may have broken by frozen dirt expanding.

Man that's cool. Good pics too. We never find traditional banners down here. About the only thing close is tubular stones (usually found in camps) that look as though they could have been lashed to the throwing stick. Thanks for showing.

This is a fantastic find, even if you only have half of the bannerstone. The piece is very well made - think of the hours of expert craftmanship that went into it. I would not be down in the mouth on this one at all.
