I could use some help from you experts.

    Howdy Y'all,

I don't post here much, because my meager finds pale in comparison to what I've seen here. In fact, I've never even found a complete arrowhead, point, or whatever. Everything I've found has been broken in some way. I did find this rock the other day, and I think it may be a tool of some sort, so I'd like your opinions. I hope that it's something, but if it's not, no big deal. I could probably get some better photos if you need that, but here's what it looks like:

It looks like it might have been a digging tool, though I don't see any polish on the bit so it may have never been used.

Kantuck, we want to see your finds no matter how meager. That is a cool find my friend. I, in my limited experience, would have guessed some kind of chopper.

Don't be shy, show us your brokes, whatits, or whatever you have questions about.

The flaking on the supposed bit end of this is more modern in flaking as you can see a patination variation from the fresh flaking to the old. This does look like some sort of Blade or hoe......................................GTP

A hoe strikes me as a possibility, although I only have seen those as photos in books. I would have been thrilled to find that piece.

i agree with most of the others, hoe or chopper, very nice find. by the way if u google indian hoe make sure u add the word artifact or some crazy stuff will pop up. i googled indian hoe a while back and boy did i have some options, but none of them had to do with artifacts or tools.

I agree it could be a hoe, the chipping on the end looks like it might have been done resharpening it.

Thanks for all of the comments!! I'm glad that you all think that it's a tool as well. When I brought it home, I asked wife if she thought it was just a rock or a native American tool, and she thought that it looked like a tool, so I thought that I might have something. I'll put my other finds together and post them here in a few days.

hay Kantuck!! me and this keyboard are not on the same page, my first post should have read [ it CAN NOT be any less than mine] i was in a hurry and did not proof read it till now, your artifact is supper, i think it is a hoe there look like there is some patina on the reworked end, so it would have been many, many years before it was found by a different people and reworked and relost, the other end it looks but i am not sure if it was originaly made that way or is it broke, if not broke it could be what they call an ice pick. Looks like a large chopper to me. I can see where it would help take a hide off and 1/4 up an animal pretty quick. Very nice tool and will make a good display item. Once an item like that got dull a couple whacks and you have a sharp blade again. Nice find. I like tools best.
