Odds and ends
Mostly ends though. I really enjoy lookin at the artifacts posted in this forum. I was fortunate enough to grow up in western Oklahoma where there was probably a village about every mile at one time or another along the bigger waterways around a 1000 years ago. Had access to a lot of sites you can't begin to get into now and discovered a lot of unreported sites. I don't have tons of stuff, but too much to get it all in one pic, and some of it's still back in Oklahoma. I didn't realize I had a smaller version of the knife I found last May in Oklahoma, but there it was. Same material, too. I really like finding the small Wa$hita points in the second pic. These pics aren't that great, but you can get the idea. Anything you want to see better, I'll make a better pic.

Re: Odds and ends
I love that Alibates material and the knife you found was so beautiful.
Is the pipe bowl made of red clay? or is it some kind of hard stone material?
Thanks for posting these pictures---I always love to see other artifacts from Oklahoma.

Re: Odds and ends
Thanks for lookin. The pipe at upper left came from near the 5 Acre site west of Butler, OK. (It's bigger than 5 acres, but probably multiple occupations.) Plains Village era, from a local particularly hard red shale. The elbow shaped pipe is just that. It has a chip from the plow on the other side and the bore was never completed. It's your ordinary everyman's everyday pipe. Local material, from a Plains Village site SE of Cordell, OK. The one you're talkin about naturegirl is an argument starter for some reason. I won't speculate, and here's some better pics. Maybe someone here will ID it satisfactorily. My grandpa found that one in southern Blaine CO, OK on the high ground on the south side of the Canadian River. I will say it seems to be a finished piece and put to use, and the tip appears to be broken from impact, so I think it was a projectile point. The area has produced some very old paleo points, but in my surveys I found nothing that was inconsistent with the Plains Village era, and nothing in the style of this point. So it could be very old, brought in by trade, or somebody worked a piece of rock that wasn't the best quality but made the best of it.

Re: Odds and ends
RGINN,
Nice cross-section of artifacts. Excellent pipe and celt near the top. Found a broken celt today and some odds and ends (I'm putting them on now). It's hot, but my partner and I plumbed up a 2" water pump and made our own rain. May not be exactly surface hunting, but I'm tired of waiting on Mother Nature.
Good collection. Good variety.

Re: Odds and ends
Nice looking group of artifacts. Some real nice materials out your way, thanks for sharing those. The celt and abrading strone are good examples. That celt looks very similar to one I found in WV.
