Another couple in my is it anything theme!

Ok these 2 are also off the same creek. The first one was found quite a ways farther down and the second was found in the same bank as all the scrappers. Again differing opinions, I'll leave mine out for now so not to sway opinions. The pictures are not the best and I can take better ones if needed.

The first item is about 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide at the widest. One side is fairly rough while the pointed end it smooth. I do not see any signs of any wear on it at all. There is a arc to the top so the center section is lower then the end before it tapers to the edge. It is the same on the bottom so sitting on a flat surface there is a gap just in the middle.

The second item is about 2 inches long and one inch wide in the middle. It has the shape of a point but is very rough. I dont see any kind of finish chipping on it at all. It has an arc to it so it so if you hold the base to the ground the tip is about 3/4 of an inch off the ground.

    Have fun!!

First one looks sorta like a preform and the 2nd looks like a point wore down to a frazzle...d2

In my opinion: first one is a waste piece or byproduct of the core. I mean- when you take a large chunk of workable stone and start knocking large "flakes" off of it you will end up with some that either don't look like they can be worked or just aren't as good as another one. This piece in the first picture looks to be uniform enough to be used, it even has what appears to me to be a little secondary flaking- probably knocked off the core and toyed with but not finished. It could have also been the case that it was knocked off the central core, used temporarily as a cutting tool and then discarded. The second picture in my opinion would be some type of preform- an unfinished piece. Again- could have been used but it doesn't appear to have been "refined" into a finished point. I would bet money on the first one and not the second though, without holding it and looking at it first hand it's hard to tell and could be a finished piece. Just my two cents worth.

Again, I agree with CM. The first could possible be a spall (maybe?), and the second one looks like a geofact.
