Great stuff but I was thinking the exact same thing as neanderthal. At least they're not shellacked and glued to a board.

A lot of great pieces in there.

Me 3 ,thats really not a very good/ethical way to display points ,as that wire WILL chip the edges of those points as well as scratch the slate pendants/gorgets,great stuff though thats 4sure,funny as that black drill looks identical to the one I found about a month ago.

I've never even put anything in a frame yet, and I cringed at the sight of them, prolly just someone at the museum who isn't really into artifacts put it together, or just accepted a donation of frames....

here are some bannerstones on display. have any of you folks ever seen a slate piece with circular engravings on it? i thought at first it was a modern addition but not so sure after i think about it. the circles may have been inscribed with a hollow cane (the same way they drilled their bannerstones). now i have to look back through 40 years of ohio archaeologist to find a similar piece. happy hunting to you all.
ps neanderthal not sure what you mean by button base. are you referring to the big white (what we call notched-base dovetails). it is a beauty. some damage on the ears. i think that the frames were put together many years ago. the wire makes me cringe, but i guess it's not quite as bad as glue and shellac.
