    Some Ohio Finds

Found these rocks/roots over the weekend. Point is Ft. Ancient. A knife and i believe a Ft. Ancient knife preform. And some ginseng. All from Ohio.

nice finds Catherine1. I love to hunt ginseng. The gold leaves and red berries really stand out in the fall. Nothing better than to find those big 4 and 5 prongs.

    Re: Some Ohio Finds

Thanks for the replies. The big/old plants are hard to find now. Very few berries this year. You have go to some remote places to find it. I found that plate full on the mountain goat side of a hill. Your estimate on the amount was pretty good WV (14 oz.). It was about 350.00 a pound last year. I can't find a pic of the finished Ft. Ancient knife I gave to one of my kids, as you could see the similarity to the core piece. Happy hunting!

Those five prongs are rare. I found one, and my father also. And we have been hunting for over 35 years. I know the hills are rough in WV. I found some while working in Clarksville, WV a few years back. However I get alot more excited when I dig up artifacts! I need to do some more digging at the cave. It overlooks the Ohio river.
