Accidental finds turned addiction
I started walking my dog on this access road next to us. Started finding flint, then an arrowhead then another piece of flint etc. Then I start really looking around. I have a good eye after all the years of looking for sharks teeth,,,shiny rock. Now I have pieces you could fit on an eraser!! So I know that the cherokee were in this area. Thats about all I know,,,,any info,,ages,,just what do I have here? Pics are not that great,,,camera (phone) and user (me) short on pixels I think .
My tastes have changed as I`ve gotten older,,,Like I never really like spankings when I was younger. Oh yeah, go ahead and piss me off,,I need another felony conviction (Helmet stickers.) To love without fear and to be loved without guilt,,,my wish for us all..

Re: Accidental finds turned addiction
I got hooked finding just one.
You do have a good eye.
If you have found that many in one area then you are in prime hunting ground.
Much better pictures because of the solid color background.

Re: Accidental finds turned addiction
Thanx you guys,,,Ididnt find them all at once though. In nov. 2010 we started off walking in the woods around a golf course. Found over 700 balls in 3 months. My dog can sniff them out of the weeds,,if I dont get em first! so its been about 8 months on this road. One piece at a time. Found all these other treasures around here too. The road is full of little fossils or fossil pieces. And this strange clay like rock that if you bust open its like a grey/black muddy powder inside. Bout the size of 1/2 my thumb. Weired. Still working on better pics. Thanx again

Some (if not all) of your lithic artifacts predate the Cherokee by many a moon

tncreeker
Post the pics of your rocks over on the rocks and gem section. I think you have some interesting rocks also.
In particular the big shiny crystal on the far left of the last pic of your first group. Also the octahedral crystal at the center top of the pic with the blue glass.
There are diamonds in Tennessee.

tncreeker - Really cool finds. The triangular points is very likely somewhere in the 500-1000 years old I'd guess. The other points are quite a but older, I'm thinking 5,000 + years. Do you know what the black flint is called? I have one point out of that flint in the TN area but don't know what it is. What are all the clear rocks? Agates I guess?

Re: Accidental finds turned addiction
Hey Twitch, I dont know anything about anything. Its all just shiny rock to me. Flint, chert, I dont know the difference. The crystals come out of the limestone and some from quartz. They come in all the colors of limestone. Red, orange, clay orange, etc. I have some pretty examples of the smokey ones that are still in the rock. Thanx for the info and the question.
