Sorry tried to post these pics and apparently did not get through. Can you give me the skinny on these points, all found in a privy in Northern Indiana? Thanks for any comments as with age, what tribe?, worth and all that jazz! Thanks jgas

Found in a privy dig!?!?!? I'd hate be on their diet I can't help with ID's on them but that's a pretty unique place to find them. That's what I love about this hobby, you never know what's gonna come out of the ground. Those are some excellent looking points, congrats

I doubt it's an actual Cache since they differ in age by a few thousand years. The first Point is an Archaic Side Notch type and it looks to be a Cache River Point. The two in the second picture are an Adena and a Birdpoint, the Adena being the bigger one. Since they were found in a privy my guess is they were tossed in there by someone who probably found them many years ago and then didn't want them anymore and threw them away.

Nice pieces and better than bottles any day!

I know some privy diggers in Kentucky and they occasionally find relics while looking for bottles. Like the Grim Reaper said, someone probably tossed them out in historic times. All of them look like they could have been local farm finds in Indiana.

Even though they were found in a bit of an unusual place to find artifacts, the old saying goes ones man's trash is another man's treasure. Great finds.

Historic cache of prehistoric points - now that's cool!!! Like Mr Reaper said, the side notch point is probably early to middle Archaic period. The large point with the rounded base is an early Woodland point. The small point is probably from the late Woodland or Mississippian time period. Nice refound points.

Holy smokes guys, I have no clue when it comes to these types of treasures. I must research now, even more than I already do. I figured the little girl threw them into the pit because her little brother tossed her doll set tea cups and plates in... Seriously though, are these things really common or what? You will have me hooked looking for more now!! Thanks for all the replies everyone. I really appreciate the knowledge you guys put out! jgas
