Re: Unfluted Clovis?
Hey nice peice. Would definetly have me pumped. I can tell you there is really only 1 or 2 areas in MD that I know of that would produce a clovis. If I knew what area you were in I could tell you. PM me if you r worried about naming a site or just let me know north south east or west. Im northern md down into Baltimore county. Plenty of woodland, early archaic stuff but no clovises in my cases.

Re: Unfluted Clovis?
I do love a good mystery. I should mention that I have found a Holcomb on the same site. I think there's a show coming up, so I'll have it looked at hands on.

Hmmm..... Not sure what to make of that. Undecided is the best I can come up with.

Re: Unfluted Clovis?
Hi Fiwi,
Just saw your post after I sent you a PM. Nice point, whatever it is. While I still lean toward a Woodland (Fox Creek) point, I would not rule out either an unfluted Clovis, or a Paleo lanceolate, until I had the piece checked by someone who is an expert on Paleo pieces.

Re: Unfluted Clovis?
Yup what artorius said....as it has features that could place it anywhere from late paleo to late woodland, get that baby checked over by an expert. And if indeed its paleo id def. get it authenticated

Re: Unfluted Clovis?
Hey fiwi quick question. Where is this show coming up at? I never hear of shows in MD or southern Pa so if you do hear of 1 let me know. Appreciate it. Hope it turns out to be paleo but a fox creek that looks like that is an awsome find too.

There's one on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Hall, 371 Main St. (Rt. 42), Cheswold, DE. Not too far from where I am. Thinking about taking my finds.

Re: Unfluted Clovis?
The long, wide flake that crosses the face at an angle says "Clovis reduction strategy" in your area.
