Let's hear your cache stories, post them here
walking a small dried out creek bed with steep sides we noticed some pottery eroding from the bank
we scratched around the spot with a screwdriver and a jack knife and came upon a huge broke pot
inside it were alot of mussel shells (50-80or so) all nested one inside the other and some bunches of squash seeds and burnt corn
mixed with them was a half of a broke bone comb and a hand full of scrapers
underneath it was a big grinding stone with 3 small hand grinders lying stacked on top of it
if i can remember more i will post it
there was also a lot of fine sand around this spot which appeared to have been carried there from somewhere maybe for use as a storage medium
this is the only thing i have ever found that was maybe a cache pit
i would like to hear of some other experiences anybody may have had

I found two 4" Turkeytails lying side by side on a river bank. Don't know if they were cached or not but that's the closest I've come. Have found several other Turkeytails there as well at different times.

Walkin the river with my boy during the winter while the river was extremely low. He had never been with me when Ive found much. There was a log laying on the bank which was moving the water in a new direction an eroding soil and exposing new rock. Saw a base stinking out and gave it a pull and out popped a beauty of a clear quartz bare island. Grab 2 handfuls of loose mud and there was 5 more points in my hands. Couple full and a couple brokes and a polished little stone disk. The next day me and my huntin buddy went and the spot had washed out a bit more and picked up a perfect quartz dewarts and a perfect tiny clear erb. Been to the same spot many times and nothing else washes out. Allways wondered how 8 points and the disk all were together in a foot by foot square and nothing else was ever found there. Its bout a mile from a known campsite. Puttin a pic of the point that was stickin out the ground. Was recently posted in the translucent thread.

Found these blades on a neighbors farm. He had just purchased the farm, and it was a known hopewell site. Found these blades next to a fence row as he had plowed closer than any previous farmers. Found the large one first sticking out of the ground and then another one. After some short searching. I found the general hole and dug 21 blades total. It was a cool March day, and I was wrapping them in my hooded jacket as I found them. The largest 5.5 and the smallest 2.5. Thanks for the post!

People from the university in Albq came down excavated it and , well ya, its all gone now. Im sure it was Mogollon , so there were probally black and white ceramics, man...... imagine a canteen, or big olla painted? good god
