    Identifying a Small Point

This is from a local creek near Boise, Idaho. I've always heard these (about 1" length) referred to as "bird points"? Why the inset area rather than an extension at the wide end? Any idea of the material? I was impressed with the symmetry and the sharpness of the point. Any comments would be helpful.

It looks like a Toyah Point to me, though they are more of a southwestern type.

    Re: Identifying a Small Point

Thanks for this help and information. I've heard if you look far enough back in migratory history, SW tribes hunted this far north. Visited Legend Rock, Wyoming petroglyphs this fall and they supposedly have Hopi, Zuni and Peruvian influence. About the same latitude as our local (and similiar) Celebration Park petrogylphs so I guess that would explain a SW style point this far north?
