The New Dig site (Day 2)
My brother and I got back for a few hours Saturday. I've ruptured my Latissimus Dorsi so I was only able to observe and photograph. Really sucks not being able to help out, it's hard work.

Re: The New Dig site (Day 2)
You & your brother are gonna have so much fun there, 1320! That looks like a great shelter.
I've got a question for you: Do you ever look for artifacts up on top of the bluffs---above the shelters? I've found lots of flint on the ground above many of the rock shelters around here----I think the knappers sat above the shelters/bluffs and made their tools & points.
"I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name". Isaiah 45:3

You bring up a nice point, there is no doubt that knapping was conducted up top. We have seen such evidence where ATV's have disturbed the dirt on the ridge tops. We don't dig for them there though, too many roots! I stumbled across some Clovis references a while back that claims most of the non-kill sites are located in such places...perhaps a good way to spot game from a distance?

Not yet, we've spent less than 5 hours at this site and we don't clean them up real well, we prefer the "natural" look I will post a frame of the haul in a month or so. We have found quite a few in such a small area, should be a nice frame.

Thank you Terry, it's awesome to receive your positive and supportive comments. If you ever want a shelter to dig, I have one with your name written all over!

We'll save part of it for you T! I'm still on the sidelines (injured) and little brother won't dig there without me even though I beg him to do so. Come on down, Bob needs some help.
