    New Dig Find

Found this artifact diggin today. Most likely a Ft. Ancient drill. Made of the same material as the one I posted last week. The tip is jagged but whole. A little under 2 inches long. It had a bit more use left in it compared to the smaller one in the last pic. Also found a hafted scraper. Thanks for viewing/Merry X-Mas! Keith.

Here is a pic of the scraper. Most likely a worn out knife.

    Re: New Dig Find

I have been looking for the GR to give his scope on this F/A piece. The flaking is long, but it is so narrow. Might be a preform? However, the tip shows wear. Thanks for the nice replies/views guys!

    Catherine,
Nice drills, they look like Toffee !! Do they have bases ever ? I see they look to be hafted at one time which makes sense.
Is there a specific difference in Ft. Ancient drills as apposed to other time frames ? Thanks,
    Lone Star

    Re: New Dig Find

I don't now for certain that they are Ft.Ancient. I have found a lot of F/A points of this same material at this site. Drills are hard to determine in age. The dalton based drills are the only ones I could probably date. However, the hafted scraper is probably Hopwell as I have found a few Hopewell points at this site with the same notching. Thanks for the reply. Happy New Year!!
