    My First Finds

First off I'd like to say Hello. I am new here and new to looking for arrowheads. I live in Minnesota and recently visited my Aunt and Uncle down in Texas where I went arrowhead hunting for the first time and now I have "The Fever", in other words I am hooked.
Anyways My aunt and uncle have some friends that have a couple of mounds on their property. There is now ceader trees growing around the mounds but if you search anywhere around the mounds you are likely to find things. They had a garbage pit dug many years ago to throw their trash in and burn it and it was getting full so they recently had a new pit dug. The first maybe 20 inches was black dirt and the rest was a light colored rocky sandy stuff, I forgot the name of it. They had the blackdirt that contained potential arrowheads put in a separate pile off to the side of the other stuff.
We went on two different days and on the first day It was my aunt and myself just using our hands. We found some broken peices right away and I was very exited even though they were just peices. There were alot of small peices of flint all around which was a good sign. A couple hours went by before my aunt found a really nice one except for the very tip was broken. I was very jealous but it wasn't 30 seconds later when one in about the same condition literally slid down the pile right at me. I was very happy that I found my first arrowhead. We left shortly after that, because it was getting dark.
The second day we returned with a friend of my aunts that has been doing this kind of things for years and he had a screen. I was about get my first shovel full of dirt when I found a nice point right on the surface. We did find more things with the screen like a trianglular peice that was worked on all three sides and also some scrapers that I didn't even know to look for the first day. It was nice being able to look through loose dirt rather than digging through the hard stuff, but they have found some nice points that way too. There is alot of potential there. the owners said that even after a rain they would find points sticking out of the dirt at the edge to the garbage pit.
Now that I am back in Minnesota I am wondering if there is anywhere to look for arrowheads and tools here. If anyone is reading this and has some good suggestions that would be great.
In the pic below the bottom right, I found these two peices separate in the pile and was wondeing if they might be from the same peice. I am not a pro at any of this but it looks like they could be. It looks like it was broke in several peices.
I'd just like to say hello again and this is a pretty cool site.

Wow! Nice stuff you found there and welcome to T-net! You can find stuff where you live, it just isn't as easy to find. Try looking for natural water ways, creeks, rivers, etc. that have farm fields along them.. in the spring after it rains try to get permission to hunt these fields. At the same time read about where people find artifacts and the whole hobby in general, here on t-net or other places.
