    what is it?

This stone was found by a diver looking for bottles in the Conn. River. He says it weighs about 15 lbs. Is this prehistoric? Looks to big for net sinker and banner stone....possible anchor? or what?

    Re: what is it?

    Whoa,

Thats a tough call. It could definitely go either way. I am not familiar with they type of artifacts found in that area. If it were found here I would lean toward modern manufacture. Probably an anchor stone for some type of trot type fishing line or small boat. Not a banner stone....most net sinkers I have seen are smaller and a different shape. Dunno for sure there. Interesting piece. Call it whatever you want.

Definitely an interesting piece, especially with it being drilled through. Not sure what that could be. Pretty cool find.

Looks like they sarted with a bigger drill ,then went to a smaller drill on the hole ,or i guess it could be wear from usage by a rope or something, hole looks to straight and smooth for the length of it.neat whatever it is.

What part of the CT River was it found in? I'll ask around, pretty familiar with most of the river area. Nice find.
