It's unreal what you find in your streams! I surface-hunt the Chester River here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and that's the ONLY place I've found points- with only ONE exception. Your finds are remarkable- truly. I've been watching this forum for a while now, but don't have a dig. camera so I can't really join in. I wonder how remarkable it is to find decent point here on the Eastern Shore. It's clear there were villages- and I've found a fair amount of points and tools, but... it's such a weird place. Hard to know where the water was at certain times in history, and I haven't been able to find maps or scematic of the area, pre-rev. war.

I just wanted to say how much I admire your finds. You have a spectacular place to hunt. You're lucky. I think I am too. I'll get pics up as soon as I can. God, I have so much to show! (and I know little to nothing about it all, so really, I cant' wait to post a pic or two- and see what you all think...!)

Thanks for sharing and HH in a BIG way!

    Re: Drill found today!

    Thanks everyone!
LOL Abbey! The point type Abbey is a very nice one at that. Post some of your finds and I'll help you all that I can. any time you make it out here, let me know and I'll set up a hunt for you. If your wondering how I find some of the things I do, well there are lots of things, but here's one tip. (sometimes you have to think like and Indian and ask yourself where would I go if I were and Indian) Think about that long and hard, and the next time you go hunting look around at the landscape. Thanks again for everybodys kind words!

Looking in creek gravel is like doing a jigsaw puzzle.

Even worse once I got the bifocals. 8)

    Re: Drill found today!

    Hey Badandy-

Thanks for YOUR kind words. I'd love to come out that way some time. What a treat to be able to go out w/ someone who knows a thing or two about all this! If I find myself going in that direction, I'll surely let you know. In the mean time, is a scanner a decent way to get pics of points up? I keep thinking the shadows would mess up the image, but I'll try if you think it would work OK.
Really good point about thinking like an Indian. I've always thought that good real estate is good real estate no matter what. I found a remarkable number of points last summer during the beginning of my long spell of not working (waiting for my restaurant to open). Nearly 70. I was amazed- and felt very fortunate. It's an interesting and varied environment here- marshes +wetlands, fresh and salt water, fields and forests- and lots of game. I've found 'sea-points' worn down like old glass, exploded points (from tempering w/ fire I assume), pre-forms, scrapers, points for big fish, little fish, birds and deer. The one 'style' that seems to come up more often than not is either pickwick or adena. And only one (broken) drill (to keep to the 'point' of this thread). I'll try scanning some things tonight. Thanks again for being so kind.

Real cool! I am going to get a pair of waders and walk the river here soon. The river here is very shallow and more like a creek compared to the Susquehanna river I am used to seeing.
    Congrates!
