Insitu today and a whats it? - 04/29/07

Found the point and the odd shaped rock in the same field about 20 feet from each other. The rock is the exact same shape all the way around. I can't imagine any use for it, but the shape just really struck me as odd. If it's nothing but a rock then I'm OK with that, haha.

Nice insitu my friend. I think they used those balls as knapping tools. I have found a bunch here in my field in illinois. They can be found here...

I'm pretty sure they were just random rocks. I investigate basically everything that could even remotely look like it has been worked, every piece of flint, etc.

Nice finds! Usually, those round rocks were used as hammerstones. You can tell by looking for the peck and abraision marks on the stone.
