    Can anyone identify

Hey guys, I'm a new addict to this hobby. I recently found this piece at Lake Tawakani (?) just east of Dallas. I've been told it is a notching tool of some sort, but I have my doubts. I think it might be a "blank" but I'm not sure. Can anyone help me out?

    My opinion only.

It looks like a broken chunk of flint, that's all.

Cant help you on that...not enough of it to make a guess. Could be Indian depending on the context in which it was found....could also be a rock. Should be good pickings around the lake though...shorelines are always great places to find artifacts.

    Re: Can anyone identify

I was worried that the picture wouldn't do the piece justice. I'm almost certain that it may have been left over from the crafting of a point of some sort. The cuts are just to precise. The front is a mirror image of a point. I have found several food processing tools not far from where I found this and the area has been known to be rich in artifacts. I'll post some more pictures soon. One of the pieces is what I believe is what is called picking stone and it appears to have had red ocher painted on it. Thanks again, Razor

Hi Razor, Your rock does not show any work on it. Keep on hitting the Lake area!!!! I am sure you will find some artifacts.

    Good luck
    Simon.............
