Big & Chunky what possibly could have been the use of this point?

A friend asked me to post this point that he found on his property. Obviously it has the shape of an arrowhead but as referenced in size by the quarter in the picture, it appears to me to be unfinished and just too big for any game around here. His property runs along a large creek and dozens of points have been found there, most in one corner of the property. Some of the smaller ones do not have a protrusion on the back at all but are shaped like a shark's tooth.
What does he have here? Thanks!

Cap this is one of those(might be a couple of things) pieces. It looks pretty bulky and not really prone to sharpness. When I find these alot of speculation begins. But I would probably go with a preform of some sort. That pretty much covers anything when I dont really know what it is.But it is worked and therefore something...............Barney Rubble

I have seen and found a few pieces like this. I always thought that maybe it was something like a "training piece" as if they were in the process of learning to make points. Maybe a first or second attempt that wasn't turning out like they wanted so it was discarded and they started over with a new piece. Not sure if there is any way to ever know but they get put in my collection regardless. Good luck and HH.

Lots of big chunky type points are tools. I have a few that are like that. If finished, could be things like knife blade, hide scrapper or flesher. But those are just ideas. I was once told by a archaeologist that any point over an inch to inch and a half is a tool and not an arrowhead or projectile point. But even professionals don't know for sure.

Still and all Very nice find!
