Point or blade? (identified as an adze)

Found this recently in S. Texas..... It is very white, which tells me anyway that it is very old.

Any help ID'ing it would be most appreciated!

    Re: Point or blade?

Hi Marc, nice find! Looks like a Paleo knife blade to me. The other folks here are much better at this but heres a link, see if you think it's a match.

I'd say it's a knife blade as well.

Re: Point or blade? (identified as an adze)

Well, I took this to The University of Texas and they identified it as an "adze"... a wood working tool.

    2000-6000 years old.

It was attached to a stick like this....

    Name: elbowadze1.jpg
Views: 173
Size: 3.8 KB

The working end of the tool is the wide end, where in fact you can see a sheen... from use.

Hey Marc! After looking at the second photo, I would say adze also. I've found several up here in KY like that. That one is in great condition. Very nice find!

Tiz an adze, but may be older than what they suggested. Question, are the sides ground pretty heavily on it Marc?
