Trust me bud when I tell you that you have a great creek there! I hunt a creek here in IL. that look just like that and it is very hard to hunt as well. I have found about 7 or 8 nice whole ones in that creek. More walking than anything, but they are there. Keep at it and let me know if you find anything.

Don,t feel bad trev, finding artifacts in a creek is next to impossible.I have,as well as many of my collector friends with huge collections claim they have never found a point in a creek. Not to doubt they are not there.I have been hunting creeks and river beds that run along known camps and mounds, all kind of fossils,no arrowheads, I did find a small celt in a creek bed when I was a kid. I guess agriculture and constuction is my thing. Jeff

Re: (bad Andy) my creek pic
That's a nice looking creek Trev. Jeff, I'm glad you said that. I'll stop beating my head on a rock. I've been starting to tell people that same thing. I have found in my experience, that what you said is very true. My creeks go through known camps, are not very long, and get scrutinized pretty close. Vary rarely is anything good found. But Jeff, that info coming from me don't mean squat. Now, I can show them your post. Holy smokes, I can't be that blind.

Looks and sounds like a perfect place to be looking.. harder to see them though, they often get that water patina and blend in perfect with everything else.. I would keep looking. That and any plowed fields up above of course.

Re: (bad Andy) my creek pic
I have found many nice points walking my favorite creek and it looks qutie similar to your pic. I would have never guessed that points would be found there but a friend of my fathers found one under a bridge and showed it to my dad. My dad told me to check it out there may be more. I decided to go and bring my son and after a hour of looking through millons of stone, sandbars and washed out banks we were ready to give up. We kinda looked at each other and said this sucks there isnt anything here. My son reached down in the water and picked up flat chipped rock as soon as I saw it I said that looks indian. It was enough to keep us looking for another 1/2 hour and thats when we started finding arrowheads. I find that searching creek bottoms is a process that you need patience, low water, clear water, and sun helps looking conditions. My brother looks the creeks with me now and then. He gets really discouraged fast and always says its like looking for a needle in a hay stack. I dont think he's ever found one there. I think it takes practice zoning in or maybe its luck.

Mostly luck.I did not mean to make it sound as if it could not be done, finding points in a creek bed.Paitence is not the problem, nor is a king eye.I agree the conditions have to be near perfect.I have not hunted creeks anywhere else but ohio&kentucky but I have walked many a creek miles ,great looking creeks near well known Indian sites . I have hunted fossils, crawdads, minnows, snakes all my life and I,ve never seen one yet,but I can walk the disced field above it and spot a pc. of flint the size of my finger nail 20 yds. away. The main reason I,m not finding anything is cause they are not there. But I still look, and if I ever find a broken one much less a big perfect one I,ll post it.It seems to me the points would be more subject to be broken by the swift flooding waters and tons of other rocks. Much more so than a plow damiging it JMO.Bad andy must have found an IndiaN SWIMMING HOLE UP THERE IN Illinoise lol. I,m going to Rock Island CO. ILL. ON a trip in sept. I,ll try creek hunting when I get there. My great uncle hunts points and has 800 acres I caN HUNT ON. Can,t wait, Happy hunting Jeff
