Don't plan on selling, I was just curious to know if I had anything that was worth a lot.

    Re: More

I understand you KY. But value is an ever-changing thing. Depends on size, quality, workmanship, rarity (for region or otherwise), and desirability, among other things. One way to get a REALLY general idea of the value of your collection is to check out several sources, average it all out, then be honest w/ yourself about the condition of what you have. I did so for insurance purposes. Seems a lot of folks get there points stolen, so I thought I'd better be on the safe side. But for whatever reason, there's the Overstreet book-- a good reference, but I think it's generally agreed he over-values many points. There's also www.caddotc.com and www.westernartifacts.com both of which sell private collections and commisioned points. Those two sites are pretty good, I think, for getting a round-about value on your collection. Good luck- and keep looking, you have some wonderful things!
Thank you, God, for this good day.  Wonder what the sea spits out today!

    HEY CM...

    Your alive!!

I buy some but don't usually sell...never sell what I have found personally.

Most selling sources you will find such as sites on the internet...Caddo trading was mentioned....are in the business of selling and will have ridiculous prices on common points. Books such as Overstreets guide have great pictures and information, but are in my opinion overpriced as well.

Large, well made points are pricey....old points..paleo points are pricey as well. As for the rest of the what I call.."unremarkable" points, you should never pay too much or expect to get too much for them. When buying, I have my 5 dollar grade 10 dollar grade and 20 dollar grade. If I pay more than that, it will be a spearhead or some type of really nice point.....yea I am cheap....LOL

Axes, celts, "ceremonial" stuff...gorgets, boatstones, bannerstones etc...command a premium, but fakes abound, so let the buyer beware.

Here is a grouping of stone artifacts. These are real...trust me! Actually these are authentic...notice the lack of perfection and mirror polish, and varied type of stone. If you ever run across a collection of stone artifacts...all perfectly shaped..polished...sized and of similar stone....pass them buy unless you want artifakes....cause fake is all you are buying.
