Best way to look for arrow heads????

I live near the banks of the Connecticut river in Vermont.
I am sure arrow heads are to be found but I never hear of anyone findind any, locally.
Lots of river bottom farm land. Do I just go for a walk in the corn and keep my eyes on the ground?
There is a fair amount of indian history in the area.
    Any suggestions would be great........

Walking the corn rows will work, wear a lightweight long sleeve & bring water & glasses & bug spray.Theres many different ways to look, the river is a good place look on gravel & sand bars maybe where the river flooded over into fields etc.get out & have fun!

I usually wait until the corn is out, after a nice plow, and a BIG RAIN. Those beauties shine.

    Best of luck!

Most of the camps will be on the higher bluffs, or
higher rises of land, (above the flood plain), but near
    to the water.
Check eroded banks & gravel bars for artifacts that
    have washed downstream.

While I am waiting for the corn chopper and plough does a canoe ride sound foolish to check out the sand bars. They are always changing and moving. Lots of smaller river and stream outlets to poke arround also.
A little fishing wouldnt hurt either.
Thank you, I really do appriciate the replys.

Welcome Vermont, I,m a river hunter too.Walk the feilds after a rain for best results. Like Fossis says ,the highest bluff above floodplain.Washed out banks after a flood can be productive in the right spots. Where are those right spots? That comes from lots of walking and some luck like anything else.I can guarantee one thing. When you do start finding them you will love to walk and explore. It is very addictive . Good luck Ohio River HUNTER
