Museum Quality Ohio Archaic Notched Flint Pieces

The following pictures are of museum quality flint pieces. They are all Archaic notched pieces from Ohio. I feel pretty safe calling them museum quality, since I took the pictures at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Dovetails, Lost Lakes, Decatur and Kirk are all represented. I consider this display case to the be the finest I have seen in my many museum travels.

I love museums but the sad thing is whats down stairs in boxes that will never be displayed.
Many many collections are donated every year and simply stored away. Some museums do sell the pieces that they don`t need and some real treasures can be had. Still as Jon has done the best are there for the looking.

I agree on this one Jon .My girlfriend and I went there back in July. They have a magnificent display. Have you seen the museum in Portsmouth? They have some great displays too.

    Pic,

The majority of the points in the pictures were donated by a collector by the name of Judge Thomas Clenay. Clenay was one of the Cincinnati area's first collectors. The donations were part of the original acquisitions by the museum in the 1800's. I guess my pics did them no justice, but I plan on going back with my new jazzed up camera. If you ever get the chance, that one display case is worth the price of admission.
    Regards,
    Jon Dickinson.
